The Seram principle centres on a patented hydraulic link
between the dipper arm cylinder and the cylinder controlling the hinged movement of the
counterweight. Movement of one cylinder results in an equal and opposite movement of the
other. Thus the machine is always kept in balance and energy is only required to lift the
load itself.
